Nizwa is a former capital of the Sultanate with deep Omani traditions.  A visit to its old market is a great way to get familiar with local cuisine and culinary culture by learning about different spices used in the preparation of food, and tasting many varieties of Omani halwa, dates, and freshly baked bread. Also, stop at a colorful fish market trading in daily catch supplied by local fishermen.

We drive to Jebel Al Akhdar to meet the Omani family and have famous Shuwa for lunch which has been cooking slowly in an underground pit for 5 hours already.

A very relaxing nature walk to admire fruit, vegetable and rose gardens on man-made terraces alongside the mountain.
